Myths, ghosts and the long-dead cling to the landscape in a remote part of Scotland. It’s a place full of secrets, formerly home to a saint who could perform miracles and a 19th-century charlatan studying a strange and ancient book, and it’s where a modernday boy claims he can see ghosts. Phyllis Logan is the narrator for this ten-part adaptation of James Robertson’s mysterious novel.

She then turned her attention to America, where, on a promotional tour, she was described by the press as ‘pretty as a swastika’; she was also snubbed by Hollywood and insulted by Marlene Dietrich. Elinor Coleman plays Leni and Gwendoline Christie is Marlene in this drama of driving ambition, obsession and arrogance.
