The Costa Concordia was one of the world’s largest and most luxurious cruise ships, but on Friday, January 13, 2012, it capsized and sank in shallow waters after striking a rock off the coast of Tuscany, leaving 32 people dead. Here, we find out what went wrong, and if the captain, Francesco Schettino – sentenced to 16 years for manslaughter – should really have shouldered all the blame.
