The five-star Qasr Al Sarab is nestled in the Empty Quarter, more than 120 miles from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Monica and Giles sample the luxury on offer and soak up Bedouin history as well as mucking in with camel treks and more. The hardest job of all is keeping the sand out – yes, it gets everywhere.

Reeling from his mistake, Adam tries to make some changes, one of which is to work on his bedside manner – not easy when his patients give as good as they get. He also tries to be kinder to younger doctor Shruti, but remains obsequious in his efforts to impress consultant Mr Lockhart (the wonderful Alex Jennings).

BEN FOGLE: NEW LIVES IN THE WILD

9PM, CH5 ★★★ This week, Ben sets up camp on the Northumberland coast with fortysomethings Kezz and Nathalie. They swapped rock ’n’ roll lifestyles to become ‘wood wizards’, making the most of their forest home and creating a sustainable business.
