This romcom is the story of a long shot at romance, as well as a long shot for the US Presidency. Charlize Theron is the polished political candidate, with Seth Rogen as her unkempt speechwrit­er. Unlikely as it seems, they are a surprising­ly good match.

The Coen brothers’ wry satire of Hollywood’s

John Wayne plays a Missouri moonshiner harbouring some deep resentment for the absent father he holds responsibl­e for his mother’s death. The arrival of a stranger (Harry Carey) offers a new perspectiv­e.

A stand-alone superhero caper charting the back story of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine (above). As it turned out, Wolverine’s swan song in 2017’s Logan (Friday, 11.20pm, Film4) is way more interestin­g than his origin story.
