★★★★ A group of old sailors dine together in a ramshackle tavern, where the food tastes musty but the wine is surprisingly good. They swap stories of their lives at sea, including this tale of a captain who is driven half-mad by love and takes desperate measures. This dramatisation of a lesser-known story by the Heart Of Darkness author Joseph Conrad catches the strange intensity of the original work.
