SPRING GARDENING WITH CAROL KLEIN

7PM, CH5 ★★★★

Spring has finally sprung, so there’s no excuse not to get out in that garden. And if you don’t know what you’re doing, who better to guide you than the fragrant Carol, who has more than 40 years of gardening experience? This week, at her delightful garden at Glebe Cottage in Devon, she takes the opportunity to introduce us to the dog’s tooth violet, a woodland flower that can provide a wonderful spring display year after year. She will also be helping us to decide which tree or large shrub is suitable for our gardens – and shows how even a small garden can benefit from the right choice.

SECRET SPENDERS 8PM, CH4

★★★

The free-spending habits of cash-strapped families are secretly filmed in this returning series, before Anita Rani and her team of financial experts confront the guilty with evidence of their irresponsible ways and offer a path to salvation. In the first episode, we meet Rai, who is desperate to know why she can’t pay her debts – until she discovers that her husband has been spending a fortune on designer gear!

CHIVALRY 10PM, CH4

★★★

This comedy won’t be for everyone, but if you’re looking for a sharp satire of the Hollywood system then give this a go. In the fourth episode, Bobby and Cameron (Sarah Solemani and Steve Coogan) are duty bound to support studio boss Jean’s charitable efforts. Bobby, meanwhile, throws a party for husband Aston – but an uninvited guest makes her question her future...
