DRAGONS’ DEN

8PM, BBC1 ★★★

There’s an eclectic and eccentric collection of ideas and entrepreneurs in the Den tonight. The Dragons are tough on a presenter who talks too much, but go easy on a terrified designer who admits she’s no businesswoman. Younger pitchers are impressive, too. There’s a 21-year-old bagpipe businessman who blows them all away, and an 18-year-old – with a very famous antique-dealing granddad – whose custom bank card business is already making him a mint.

THE APPRENTICE 9PM, BBC1

★★★★

There are many obstacles for the teams to overcome in the early stages and, given that we’re on series 17 of this show, there’s no excuse for them to fall into some of the most common traps – such as not following the brief closely enough, or ignoring expertise within their own ranks. That’s the case tonight as the teams, under the watchful eyes of Lord Sugar’s lieutenants, are tasked with branding and marketing a new electric motorbike. Prepare to slap hands to foreheads as the mistakes pile up.

GRAYSON PERRY’S FULL ENGLISH 9PM, CH4

★★★★ This week, Kirk drives Grayson to the Midlands to find out what Englishness looks like in this part of the world. In this ethnically diverse region, Grayson encounters examples of how other cultures have become part of the countryside and great British institutions. In the Peak District, he meets Rukiya, who runs a halal tearoom; later, he learns about so-called Desi pubs, such as the Red Lion in West Bromwich (above), which are run by British Indians and have saved many local boozers from closure. Grayson also ponders what English pride means today, and meets Ian, who organises one of the largest St George’s Day parades in the UK. his face. This is a classic lockedroom mystery – Dura had been alone in a studio to concentrate on recording his new album, so how did he wind up dead? The penultimate crime in the current series for Sally Lindsay’s Jean White will certainly test her powers of deduction, especially surrounded by so many die-hard fans of the dead rock legend, demanding answers.
