WOULD I LIE TO YOU?

8PM, BBC1 ★★★★

Another compilation of unseen bits from the recent 16th series of the comedy panel game, this features tall tales and unlikely truths from Strictly judges Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke, comedians Tom Allen, Jo Brand, Lucy Beaumont and Bob Mortimer (something of a show legend), DJ Snoochie Shy and Madchester icon Bez, among many others.

GARDENERS’ WORLD 8PM, BBC2

★★★★

It feels like the season has barely got under way, but Monty Don is already preparing for late spring and even summer by sowing poppies and planting cornflowers (left) in the paradise garden.

Toby Buckland visits magnificent Melbourne Hall in Derbyshire, and Rachel de Thame meets a passionate dahlia grower who was once a florist for the Obamas in the White House.

HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU 9PM, BBC1

★★★★

Charlie Brooker hosts as the new, 65th series of the topical panel show begins. Ian Hislop and Paul Merton are back as team captains, and, with the way things are going in Britain and abroad, they and the guests will have plenty to sink their teeth into.

PILGRIMAGE: THE ROAD THROUGH PORTUGAL 9PM, BBC2 ★★★

The celebrities’ enlightening journey continues, but with less than a week to go before they join tens of thousands of people in Fatima for the annual celebration of the

Miracle of the Sun, they better get a move on. But first, they have to climb the 570 steps to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte and sample roast suckling pig in Mealhada.

THE CLEANER 9.30PM, BBC1

★★★★ On his way to clean up after a man’s death in a dilapidated stately home, Wicky has a run-in with an

owl – and, according to the shaman (Alex Lawther, left, with Greg Davies as Wicky) he meets on site, it’s a portent of something sinister.

It turns out that Wicky has a connection with the deceased, and the shaman, called into ‘cleanse’ the mansion before it’s redeveloped, gives him food for thought about how Wicky once treated him. Don’t miss the final scene with ‘tribute act’ Shaking Stephen.
