Taylor, right, with Elba) on a confusingly important quest. Matthew Mcconaughey is his nemesis, the Man in Black.
BLINDED BY THE LIGHT
(2019) 12
10.40PM, BBC1 ★★★★
Directed by Bend It Like Beckham’s Gurinder Chadha, this 1980s-set jukebox musical follows Javed (Viveik Kalra), a British-pakistani teenager whose obsession with Bruce Springsteen powers a feel-good coming-of-age story.
MEAN GIRLS
(2004) 12
12.10AM, CH4 ★★★★
A viciously good high-school comedy written by Tina Fey (and based partly on a book about school cliques as well as her own experiences), who also appears as a teacher. Lindsay Lohan is the girl getting sucked into a storm within her new school’s cliques. Yes, it’s a teen comedy, but this has the sort of razorsharp wit that grown-ups love, too.
