CLIVE MYRIE’S ITALIAN ROAD TRIP

★★★★

The newsreader and Mastermind host (right) is a big fan of Italy, spending his 40th birthday on Sicily and his 50th on Capri, and is great company for this 15-part tour. Today, he’s behind the wheel of a red Fiat to explore Matera in Basilicata, following in the tyre tracks of Daniel Craig in his Bond swan song No Time To Die. The film nods keep coming: tomorrow, Clive meets Sicilian villagers who appeared in The Godfather.

SARAH BEENY’S NEW LIFE IN THE COUNTRY

8PM, CH4 ★★★

As so many of us learned during the pandemic, it’s not always easy to work and relax in the same place, and you were lucky if you had the space to keep your job and your home life separate. And so, this week, when Graham suggests that the family room should accommodate both his wife’s work and the family’s recreation, it’s no surprise that Sarah puts her foot down – at first. Taking inspiration from nearby Longleat House, she realises that she can strike a balance and before long, the family room is stylish, functional and cosy.

BLUE LIGHTS

9PM, BBC1 ★★★

The shooting of Gerry has far-reaching consequences for his colleagues and the gang they’ve been trying to take down. The police have some hard questions for MI5 as to how a cop-killing could have happened on their watch, while Mo hears some hard truths from his father as James tries to shield his son from the fallout. The crimelord reveals he’s been acting as an informant for the past 25 years, but what the younger Mcintyre really wants to know is: who will be joining James in protective custody – Mo or Tina?

ANDREW: THE PROBLEM PRINCE

★★★★ This new, two-part documentary, showing as part of Channel 4’s alternative Coronation coverage, focuses on the Duke of York’s disastrous interview with Emily Maitlis in 2019. The former Newsnight presenter – who also serves as an executive producer here – discusses her preparations for meeting the Prince (right), and looks at the impact of the unexpectedly revealing interview. It also focuses on his childhood and military service, with contributions from those who once knew him.

FIRST DATES

★★★ Every now and then on the show, a singleton is paired up with someone they already know, and not all of the reunions are happy ones. This week, we meet Rebecca and Stephanie, whose paths have crossed before. Will sparks fly? Also in the restaurant is Diane, 50, who has had enough of dull men. She’s been matched with fun-loving farmer Chris, 60, who has brought her a gift – a beetroot.
