THE 1970S SUPERMARKET AT CHRISTMAS

It was the decade in which Christmas as we know it today was born and, while some aspects of a typical 1970s party might have gone out of fashion – think snowball cocktails and Dream Topping – others, such as tinsel and chocolate orange, are still very much with us. Debbie Mcgee (below) is among the celebs and experts celebrating the fact that this was the era when everything got easier: supermarkets got bigger, opening hours got longer, and more food was ready-made. This special is very entertaining, a jolly tour through the best bits of the consumer culture that has shaped our lives over the past 50 years. Plus, Rustie Lee rustles up the classics, and there are the science bits that show how delicacies such as cheese footballs are made. where the weather is somewhat warmer. Musician Mel Blatt, actor and comedian Richard Blackwood, singer Duncan James and Love Islander Faye Winter are in the kitchen, and singer Peter Andre will be judging their sunshine dishes before they move on to a main event made to impress.

Time to get the party started, and Mo has an impressive guest list to get things swinging. Music comes courtesy of chart-topper Leona Lewis, who will be serenading the studio. Mo also welcomes First Dates maitre d’ Fred Sirieix, Survivor and The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett, and People Just Do Nothing co-creator Allan Mustafa. Bafta-winner Mo knows how to get everyone involved, so if you’re not singing along or rolling on the carpet with laughter, then bah humbug. He’s also pretty mischievous, so you can expect prank calls, press-up challenges, an epic karaoke battle and much more. Michael Mcintyre, eat your heart out.
