I love you Mack (Sorry I stabbed you!)

-

EMMERDALE

You have to wonder whether Mack is regretting saving Charity in the crash a few months back. After she stabbed him last week, the poor guy’s in hospital and now has to face police questions about his ordeal. When Charity’s released from police custody, she visits him and confesses her love. Shame he’s unconscious, but still, the intentions are good.

When Mack leaves hospital and tries to reconcile with her, she tells him to leave, fearing she’ll hurt him. After issuing a heart-breaking ultimatum, she takes refuge in a bottle of whisky. Interesting. For distressed locals, vodka is usually the drowning

of choice. Maybe everyone’s still trying to replenish stocks after Smirnoff Queen Liv’s drinking splurges, and brandy’s a no-no because Kim is hogging it all in Cognac Towers.

It’s Cain to the rescue, suggesting Charity has counselling. You know your life’s hit a real low when you need Cain for emotional support. But oh, yes, this is the new touchy-feely Cain, who a couple of weeks ago feared he was losing his grip as the man he once was. You are, Cain. Get a grip.

It doesn’t look as if that’s going to happen anytime soon when a row between Ruby and Caleb in the Woolpack spurs him to intervene. Alas, the confrontation ends with Cain being kneed in the groin. That can’t be good news for Moira, who is already worried about Cain having a faulty gene. Just the one? I’d say there’s a whole army of them swimming around in that body.

It’s another aggression filled week and even mild-mannered Marlon enters the fray, with Gus falling to the ground after a scuffle. Refusing to accept Marlon’s apology, Gus nevertheless suggests a compromise to Rhona, whereby they’d both end up with not guilty verdicts in Ivygate. Is he to be trusted when he agrees to Rhona having access to the baby and cancelling the house sale?

Meanwhile, Tom is giving Belle the silent treatment when she gets a job opportunity from Suzy. Be grateful, Belle. The less he opens his mouth, the better.
