LIVE ATHLETICS: WORLD INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

9.30AM, 6.45PM, BBC2 ★★★ It’s not the first time it’s been held in the UK, with the 2013 and 2018 championships having taken place in Birmingham. This year’s competition in Glasgow will feature the track and field sports we know and love, with coverage from the Commonwealth Arena as athletes battle it out for the World Indoor titles in this 19th edition of the contest. Four champions will be crowned this evening.

FORMULA 1: BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING HIGHLIGHTS 7.30PM,

CH4 ★★★★ This week marks the start of the Formula One World Championship, and will kick off in the Middle East at the Bahrain International Circuit. This was the first F1 Grand Prix to be held in the region, with its 2004 debut. Top of the list of this year’s favourites to win is Max Verstappen with Red Bull, but plenty of others are in with a chance, notably British drivers Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris.

HERE WE GO 8.30PM, BBC1 ★★★

Rachel prepares for her seemingly perfect sister, Penny (Inside Man’s Dolly Wells), to visit with her insufferable banker husband (played by Ghosts’ Simon Farnaby, with awful bleached-blond hair), sending her into a frenzy. Cue the usual shenanigans. Meanwhile, grandma Sue comes into a bit of money after she sells her home. She gives some to her grateful son – but also graciously offers to take seriously high-maintenance bride Cherry shopping for a wedding dress to match her expensive tastes. In other (less costly) news, Cherry’s fiance, Robin, goes bargain househunting – in Bulgaria, of all places.

MARTIN COMPSTON’S NORWEGIAN FLING 10PM, BBC2

Line Of Duty’s Martin and pal Phil Machugh (below) embark on the second leg of their ‘fling’. They celebrate Norway’s National Day, even marching in a parade, then go fishing the next morning. Not the smartest move – a hungover Martin spends the trip with his head over the side of the boat. Up too late partying, perhaps?

EUROVISION 2024: GRAHAM MEETS OLLY 10.40PM, BBC1

★★★★ He’s been known as the lead singer of British pop band Years & Years since 2010 – and, more recently, as an actor – but Olly Alexander has a new project in store: he will be representing the UK at the 68th staging of the Eurovision Song Contest. He sits down to chat to Graham Norton – the BBC’S peerless Eurovision commentator – ahead of the competition, which takes place in Malmo, Sweden in May. Hoping to go one better than Sam Ryder, who came second in the 2022 contest, Olly’s got his sights set on victory. He announced that his song Dizzy, which he will perform at Eurovision, will be released today.
