Police hunt girl of 15 and man she met on the Net

- By Stephanie Condron

A GIRL of 15 is feared to have run off with an unemployed father- of-three she met on the Internet.

Roxanne Milner, who was in the care of social services, has not been seen since Monday.

Tony Jones, 39, has also disappeared with his children.

Last night police appealed for help in finding the girl who had been living with foster parents in Willerby, East Yorkshire.

Officers said she could be anywhere in the country. Mr Jones’ estranged wife, Amanda, 31, said she was worried about her children, Steven, 12, Sophie, nine and two- year- old Chloe.

She said: ‘ I heard Tony had a 24-year- old girlfriend called Roxie from Yorkshire who he met on the Internet but I didn’t know she was 15.

‘I just hope she is all right. I don’t know why he’s run off with a 15year- old.

‘He was always talking to young girls on the Internet, the youngest I knew was 18, and it caused problems between us.’ Mr Jones, of Canvey Island, Essex, is thought to have previously made contact with Roxanne via the Internet two weeks ago. On that occasion he travelled to East Yorkshire and drove her back to his home address with her.

Police went to his home to try and locate her and although she was not there at the time a few hours later she handed herself in at a local police station and was returned to the North.

Since her disappearance, Humberside Police have been in contact with Essex Police. But inquiries in Canvey Island have failed to locate either Roxanne or Mr Jones. Mr Jones’s details have now been circulated on the Police National Computer. He is believed to be driving a red Renault Clio. According to his wife he does not possess a passport.

Roxanne is described as slim, 5ft 4ins tall, with shoulder length hair that is blonde on the top and brown at the back.

She also has a pierced left nostril. When last seen she was wearing a white jacket with a furtrimmed hood, brown Rockport boots and blue jeans.

Police are asking for help from the public to track down Roxanne and ask anyone who may know her current whereabouts, or who has seen Mr Jones or his car to contact them urgently.

Detective Inspector Tony Burke said: ‘There are obviously real concerns for Roxanne.

‘She is only just 15 years old, we believe she is with a man who is considerably older than her and she could be anywhere in the country right now.

‘ I would urge Roxanne, Tony Jones, or anyone else with information about her whereabouts to ring us immediately.’

Last night the red- brick semi- detached house where Mr Jones has lived with his three children since splitting from his wife 15 months ago was deserted. A neighbour said: ‘The last I saw of him was when he went to the shops on Sunday, the next thing I knew the police were banging on my door.

‘ I never had much to do with him.’
