End for Anderson after cocaine test

SWANSEA defender Ijah Anderson has been banned for six months after testing positive for cocaine.

Anderson, 29, was suspended by the League One leaders when he failed the test and now they are likely to sack him. He was also fined £ 500 plus costs by the the FA of Wales in Cardiff yesterday.

The former Tottenham trainee joined Swansea on a free transfer from Bristol Rovers but now faces the end of his career.

But FAW general secretary David Collins said: ‘ Players are totally responsibl­e for any substance found in their body, and that is consistent with FIFA and UEFA.

‘ If it is the case he was spiked then it is an unfortunat­e situation, but any profession­al footballer has to be aware that he is responsibl­e.’

Anderson has 10 days to appeal and will wait to see what Swansea will do.
