BLUNKETT RAPS ED BALLS
THE sudden conversion of Ed Balls to the need for a tough stance on immigration was savaged yesterday by David Blunkett, who accused him of being in ‘denial’ over Labour’s record.
The leadership candidate – and Gordon Brown ally – says his party made a ‘mistake’ by ignoring concerns over immigration policy. He also suggested free movement across the European Union should be stopped.
But former Home Secretary Mr Blunkett said: ‘I am a bit worried about people... some competing for the leadership of my party, who are in a . . . denial where they have to pretend they had nothing to do with decisions that were taken.’
