IS NOTH­ING sa­cred? The Welling­ton boot — beloved of ram­blers, dog­walk­ers, fes­ti­val-go­ers and Padding­ton Bear — has had a fashion makeover.

It all started a cou­ple of years ago, when Hunter wellies be­came the must-have item for fes­ti­val wear­ers, af­ter Kate Moss was pic­tured wear­ing them with hot­pants at Glas­ton­bury. Then, last sum­mer, Hunter re­leased a mock-croc ver­sion in a col­lab­o­ra­tion with Jimmy Choo (price £250). But now, things have just got silly. Meet the wedge welly. We don’t know who these are aimed at, but any­one seen wear­ing them should be mocked. In any case, once you’re knee-deep in fes­ti­val mud, no one will be able to see what’s on your feet...
