STE­WART GRANGER is an oft-ne­glected mat­inée idol, who here stars along­side his then wife, Jean Sim­mons (pic­tured be­low) in an ef­fec­tive and stylish thriller. Granger bumps off his nag­ging wife, only to find his maid (Sim­mons) is all too quick to jump into her shoes, as mistress of the house — and him.

FILM: I DREAM OF MURDER,

TV-MOVIE reg­u­lar Jo­lene Blalock (of Star Trek: En­ter­prise fame) plays a ther­a­pist who — yes, you guessed cor­rectly — treats a pa­tient who dreams of her own murder. When the pa­tient is in­deed killed, Blalock risks her ca­reer and mar­riage, and sets out to solve the mys­tery.

TU­TANKHAMUN: THE MYS­TERY RE­VEALED, 8pm, Five

THE se­ries ends with a pos­si­ble med­i­cal ex­pla­na­tion for the demise of the boy king’s dy­nasty — a ge­netic con­di­tion that would have been ex­ac­er­bated by mar­ry­ing within the blood­line.

IN 2008, while film­ing in Peru, Ben Fogle con­tracted leish­ma­ni­a­sis, a flesh-eat­ing bug that threat­ened to dis­fig­ure his face. In this film, he vis­its Ethiopia to meet chil­dren af­fected by noma, a truly hor­rific dis­ease that de­stroys the faces of thou­sands of African chil­dren ev­ery year, leav­ing them des­per­ate for rad­i­cal surgery.

THE last-ever Big Brother ar­rives — though, hav­ing de­cided it wasn’t worth do­ing any more, one won­ders why Chan­nel Four didn’t pull the plug on it straight­away. ED­WARD NOR­TON stars as a mas­ter ma­gi­cian in 1900s Vi­enna. De­voted to his child­hood love, a count­ess (played by Jes­sica Biel), he schemes to re­lease her from an ar­ranged mar­riage to a wicked and ruth­less prince (Ru­fus Sewell). Se­duc­tively enig­matic, it keeps you guess­ing right to the end.

DES­PER­ATE HOUSEWIVES,

AF­TER rather a light­hearted run of episodes, it’s good to see the dark side of Wis­te­ria Lane re­turn­ing to the fore, with not one but two mur­der­ers mak­ing their pres­ence felt tonight. When Pa­trick (John Bar­row­man) en­gi­neers his first meet­ing with an un­wit­ting Danny (Beau Mir­choff, be­low right, with Bar­row­man), it’s clear he’s not in the run­ning for a touch­ing fa­ther- son re­union. Mean­while, Gaby makes a spon­ta­neous of­fer to Bob and Lee that back­fires, and Lynette and Pre­ston dis­cover the truth about Irina. Else­where, Su­san is shocked to dis­cover the true ex­tent of Mike’s money prob­lems, An­drew and Sam con­tinue their ver­bal joust­ing, and, when Julie’s at­tacker strikes again, a killer is re­vealed…
