Cooper Gay talks

Daily Mail - - City & Finance -

LONDON-based reinsurance broker Cooper Gay is in ‘advanced’ merger talks with US broker Swett & Crawford. This would create the world’s largest independent global wholesale and reinsurance broker, the duo said.

It would be led by Cooper Gay boss Toby Esser and employ 1,500 staff in 60 offices worldwide. Together the brokers place £2.4bn in annual premiums in markets such as Lloyd’s of London. Cooper Gay has been repeatedly tipped as likely to float on the stock market, so the merger may make a listing even more likely.
