THE boss of Sains­bury’s took home nearly £8m last year as the gro­cer’s re­vival con­tin­ued apace.

Justin King banked £3.35m in pay, bonuses, shares and other perks – a 63pc rise on last year, the group’s an­nual re­port re­vealed. He also cashed in £4.5m in share op­tions un­der ear­lier long-term schemes. His over­all pack­age is up 60pc on last year’s £4.9m. Fol­low­ing a 17pc rise in prof­its, Sains­bury’s 127,000 staff shared a record bonus pot of some £80m, an av­er­age of £630 each.
