Cut! Actors Tom and Susannah split
THEY were young lovers who shared the joys of being two of Britain’s most promising stars. But now, alas, the sizzling romance between War Horse star Tom Hiddleston and former Royal Shakespeare Company actress Susannah Fielding is over.
And it i s hard to escape the conclusion that their busy lives were to blame.
Last night, Susannah, 26, was making her West End debut in black comedy All New People. Tom, 31, meanwhile is filming as Prince Hal in a new version of Henry IV in a converted barn in Hertfordshire, which, it appears, left little time for romance.
The Old Etonian has starred in two Oscarnominated films in the past year — t he Spielberg epic about World War I and Woody Allen’s comedy Midnight In Paris. He tells me sadly: ‘The fact is we’ve split up. The relationship ran its course.’
In the past, Guildhall-trained Susannah, who has appeared in the BBC’S Wallander, was often pictured on the red carpet with Tom.
‘People assumed it was about me getting well-known and leaving her behind,’ says Hiddleston. ‘But she is a very talented actress and has lots of projects coming up.
‘It’s just I am very driven right now and there isn’t really any time to have a proper girlfriend.’
