Strip off on the beach? I’m too shy says Keira
AT the last count, around three million cinema goers have seen topless Keira Knightley having her bottom spanked in A Dangerous Method.
So it might come as a bit of a surprise for some of them to learn that the star says she is so ‘incredibly shy’ about her body that she can’t strip off on a beach.
Astonishingly for the face of Chanel, Miss Knightley also claims she’s self-conscious about her ‘bad skin’.
The 27 year-old puts her hang-ups down to the fact that everything is magnified on the big screen and she finds herself focusing on ‘the bits you don’t particularly like’.
She said: ‘Do I sometimes feel incredibly shy about going out even in a bathing costume into a swimming pool? Yeah, actually, I do. I was on the beach the other day … with some friends. They were all totally fine taking everything off and I was sitting around in my jeans and a top.
‘I kind of didn’t want to take anything off.’ Since finding fame with her role as a teenage footballer in Bend It Like Beckham, Miss Knightley has successfully wooed Hollywood.
She can currently be seen playing the highly sexual patient-turned-analyst Sabina Spielrein in A Dangerous Method, which depicts the turbulent relationship between psychiatrist Carl Jung, his mentor Sigmund Freud, and Sabina.
Speaking to Interview magazine about the film’s explicit sex scenes, Miss Knightley mused: ‘...At a certain point, I’ve had to get over my own body anxiety issues so it doesn’t get in the way of telling the story.’
The actress, who also strips down to a swimsuit in Atonement, insisted: ‘I’ve never seen myself as being attractive in that glamorous way. I’m incredibly self-conscious about the fact that I get bad skin.’
