The Downton Abbey hero now starring in Great Expectations!

- By Emily Sheridan and Alasdair Glennie

DOWNTON Abbey fans are still waiting to see if Matthew Crawley will tie the knot with Lady Mary in the upcoming third series of the drama.

But in real life, actor Dan Stevens appears to have already found domestic bliss.

The 29-year-old looked proud as he stood beside his pregnant wife Susie Harriet on the red carpet as they arrived at the Olivier Awards last night.

The 6-year-old South African jazz vocalist turned singing teacher is expecting the couple’s second child, who will be a sibling for their two-year- old daughter Willow. The couple met in 2006 when they were both starring in shows at different theatres in Sheffield.

Mr Stevens said recently: ‘I don’t think there’s ever a right time to have kids. I’m actually pretty glad it’s happened quite young.

‘For the first six months I just looked at her [Willow] and thought, “She’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen”.’

The actor was just one of a host of stars in attendance at the glitzy ceremony at London’s Royal Opera House.

Strictly Come Dancing 2010 winner Kara Tointon, who recently starred in the West End production of Absent Friends, went for 1920s glamour in a black and nude sequinned dress by Alice + Olivia.

The former Eastenders actress, 28, completed the elegant look with nude heels and her short dark hair styled into immaculate waves. British actress Hayley Atwell, 0, who recently starred in Hollywood blockbuster Captain America, also caught the eye in a figure-hugging floor-length fishtail gown.
