TOTTENHAM 5.7 average rating

-

CARLO CUDICINI

5 He had little chance with Chelsea’s first, was incensed by the decision to award his former club a second and then looked utterly resigned as the floodgates opened.

KYLE WALKER

4 A nervy start allowed Ashley Cole to sneak in behind and he was then fortunate to get away with a poor back pass. His forward runs were relatively rare.

WILLIAM GALLAS

5 Got too tight to Didier Drogba in the build-up to Chelsea’s opener and conceded the foul that led to their fourth. Was also booked for unsporting behaviour.

LEDLEY KING

6 Not the force of old but produced a brilliant tackle to stop Drogba in 14th minute and another in the 69th minute showed just why Redknapp regards him so highly.

BENOIT ASSOU-EKOTTO

6 Was put under constant pressure by Ramires and generally did OK — until he let the Brazilian get the better of him in the lead-up to Chelsea’s third goal.

AARON LENNON

5 Saw the success Gareth Bale was having against Jose Bosingwa and switched momentarily to join him on the left. Largely invisible in the second half.

SCOTT PARKER

8 Indispensable for Spurs in that midfield marshalling role, but made an impact going forward, too. Looked tired as game wore on and was booked in stoppage time.

LUKA MODRIC

7 A beautiful ball with the outside of right boot set Bale free in 11th minute and he drove Spurs forward with his usual creativity, as well as helping out Parker defensively.

GARETH BALE

6 Beat Bosingwa with his first opportunity to sprint on to a ball over the top, but his cross was poor. Drifted in and out of the game but was alert enough to score Spurs’ goal.

RAFAEL VAN DER VAART

6 Had a headed chance cleared off the line by John Terry. At his best in hole behind the striker, rather than out on right wing, but replaced by Jermain Defoe with 15 minutes left.

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR

5 Wasted an excellent counterattacking opportunity and struggled to hold the ball up early on. However, he played a key role in Tottenham’s only goal.

Substitutes

Redknapp didn’t have many options on the bench, but threw on Defoe, his top scorer in the Cup, with the score at 2-1. However, Ramires’ strike killed the game. Sandro came on for Parker in stoppage time.
