PETR CECH

5 Wasn’t especially busy, although he flapped at Adebayor in the build-up to Spurs’ goal. Was also beaten by a Van der Vaart header, which was cleared off the line by Terry.

JOSE BOSINGWA

6 Beaten by Bale in first two straight sprints, yet persisted in playing high up the pitch. He was not really punished, however, and made the odd contribution in attack as well.

DAVID LUIZ

7 A very controlled display, but the Brazilian couldn’t keep up with Adebayor for Spurs’ goal owing to what looked like a hamstring strain, which ended his afternoon prematurely.

JOHN TERRY

8 He was involved in the goal that should not have been given and enjoyed an excellent afternoon. No sign of those fractured ribs causing him any trouble.

ASHLEY COLE

7 Sensed Walker’s nerves and made two good runs early on. Handled Lennon and Bale — when he ventured over to Spurs’ right — with ease. A good all-round display.

JOHN MIKEL OBI

6 Did not disrupt Spurs as much as Modric and Parker did Chelsea, but was solid enough as the most defensive of Chelsea’s five midfielders. Received a yellow card.

FRANK LAMPARD

9 A vital tackle to stop Parker bursting through in 19th minute. Scored Chelsea’s fourth with a free-kick in the 81st minute and put in a brilliant all-round display.

RAMIRES

7 Worked tirelessly, as ever, and deserved his 77thminute goal. Showed great discipline on the right and gave Assou-ekotto a difficult afternoon.

JUAN MATA

6 Miscontrolled Kalou’s 27thminute pass with only Cudicini to beat, but was somehow awarded Chelsea’s second goal. Showed his talent in the middle.

SALOMON KALOU

6 A quiet first 20 minutes but had some good moments. Can drift in and out of games and doesn’t work nearly as hard as Ramires when his side don’t have the ball.

DIDIER DROGBA

9 Showed stunning control and power to score Chelsea’s opener, did his work defensively and was a handful all afternoon. He just loves playing at Wembley.

Substitutes

Roberto Di Matteo’s first substitution, bringing on Gary Cahill for Luiz, was enforced and the game was wrapped up by the time Florent Malouda and Fernando Torres entered the pitch. Malouda scored Chelsea’s fifth.
