Love those leaves!

Bring the outdoors indoors with vibrant woodland prints

- EMMA LOVE

tHeRe’s no doubt that florals are a fabulous interiors theme for summer but, for something a little bit different, why not consider leafy botanicals instead?

With a predominantly green colour palette, they’re a great way to bring the outdoors in.

Fabrics and wall coverings specialist sanderson has introduced several new botanical prints. Upholster a chair in the bold Woodland Ferns fabric to create an eye-catching statement, or opt for the more subtle Amy fabric for curtains.

‘the colourways of these fabrics are clean and fresh, and can easily be used in any room, from conservatories and living rooms to bathrooms,’ says Alison Gee, from the sanderson design team. ‘Woodland Ferns was created from a book of beautiful botanical drawings from the sanderson archive.’

elsewhere, there’s the Kaiku range by Finnish design company Marimekko, renowned for its vibrant prints. it includes a duvet cover and pillowcase set, fabric and — our favourite — the shower curtain.

scandinavian-inspired online retailer isak does leaf-print cups with oak lids that double up as storage jars. And online retailer Cachette has a cute fabric bucket that will appeal to children and adults alike.

As Anglo-French founders Delphine de Chabalier and stephen Rogan explain: ‘Children respond well to the fascinating world of insects, flora and forests so it makes a nice touch to a child’s bedroom.’

On the High street, check out Next, which has several leafy rugs, and Dunelm Mill for cushions. For a more subtle take on the trend, look to M&s, which has delicate leaf drawings on mugs, and Cargo, whose ‘tranquillity tray’ is perfect for a relaxing dinner in front of the tV.
