THE X Factor finalist Ashley JohnBaptise grew up in care and, with a history degree from Cambridge, is one its success stories. This documentary about the system is clearly very close to his heart, but Ashley remains admirably clear-sighted at every turn — from hearing bad news about old friends to supporting new ones. It’s an emotional viewing experience.
DARK DRAMA

IT’S almost the middle of season one, and there’s the feeling that the writers might be running out of steam when Victoria pays a visit to the Stowaway. There is a good reason for it, though — one of many events that are slowing the momentum of Emily’s (Emily VanCamp, pictured with Josh Bowman as Daniel) revenge, the worst being the actions of her dangerously unhappy friend from prison.
VOICE OF AN ANGEL
Arena: Amy Winehouse — The Day She Came To Dingle, 10pm, BBC4 A CONCERT from 2006 that feels like the calm in the eye of the storm, as Amy Winehouse sings her heart out in a small Irish church in Dingle, to a crowd of just 85 people. The priest describes the performance as akin to an ‘act of worship’ because of its beauty and, listening to how it sounds — even over the TV — it’s hard to disagree.
