I will not walk away, says Trap

-

GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI is preparing to dig his heels in to stay on as Republic of Ireland boss, despite moves within the FAI to end his contract — no matter what the result in the Faroe Islands tonight. With Ireland still reeling from Friday’s 6-1 humiliation at the hands of Germany, their worst competitive home defeat, Trapattoni (above) has come under increasing pressure to quit his £1.2million-a-year job. But asked if he would quit if the FAI asked him to, Trapattoni said: ‘No, absolutely not. Why? ‘We have started the qualifiers and we have lost one game to Germany. There is no reason to go.’
