Trinity trimmed

-

THE boss of Daily Mirror owner Trinity Mirror has wasted no time in wielding the axe. Simon Fox, who joined the newspaper publisher (up 2.75p to 68.75p) a month ago, is cutting costs by merging the firm’s national and regional division pooling editorial, advertising, and support teams. He also announced the closure of Trinity’s loss-making Happli deals website which was eating up £20m in start-up investment. Georgina Harvey, managing director of the regionals business, and PR boss Nick Fullagar have also been ditched along with the executive committee which has been scrapped. Fox said: ‘What has become clear in my first few weeks is that realising our potential requires a flatter and more efficient management structure that connects strategic decision making more closely with the journalistic heart of the business.’
