BMI flyers told to use or lose air miles

- L.pullman@dailymail.co.uk

ThOUSaNDS of frequent flyers with airline BMI must act swiftly to avoid all their hard- earned airmiles becoming worthless.

BMI’s Diamond Club members need to switch to British airways’ executive Loyalty scheme by October 27 in order to spend any points and earn more. Customers will lose all their BMI miles if they do not transfer to a Ba scheme by December 31.

The upheaval for BMI’s loyal customers comes after Ba owner International airlines Group (IaG) bought out the company in april.

Crucially, UK members transferring their BMI miles into Ba executive Club avios points get the same rewards. For example, if you have collected 1,000 BMI destination miles, you’ll receive 1,000 Ba executive Club avios points.

Customers who collect airmiles using BMI’s credit card scheme must also switch their points to Ba’s executive Club frequent flyer scheme.

however, BMI credit card holders can continue to earn miles on their plastic past December 31 at the current rate of 1.5 miles per £1 spent.

The card is still available to new customers, who receive an introductory bonus of 20,000 miles.

To move your points across, you must first set up a Ba executive Club account.

Diamond Club members are being warned that the www.flybmi.com site will be closed from October 28, so they will need to check their accounts on
