TONY GODDEN Goalkeeper stayed until 1986 before ending career in the lower leagues. Recently left coaching role at Brighton.

WAYNE HUGHES Midfielder played six times then joined Tulsa Roughnecks in 1979.

CYRILLE REGIS Striker moved to Coventry City where he won the FA Cup in 1987. Later played for Aston Villa, Wolves and Chester City. Returned to The Hawthorns as coach but is now a football agent.

MICK MARTIN Midfielder is currently a scout for Newcastle United.

ALISTAIR BROWN Forward went on to Crystal Palace, Walsall and Port Vale. Ran a pub in Aldridge, near Walsall, where he still lives.

LAURIE CUNNINGHAM Winger was the first British player to move to Real Madrid in 1979 for £950,000. Died in a car crash aged 33.

BRYAN ROBSON Joined Manchester United in 1981 and won 90 England caps in midfield. Managed West Brom and Middlesbro­ugh. Now a United ambassador.

TONY BROWN 218 goals from midfield over 17 seasons and is in the PFA’s Hall of Fame. Now a local radio summariser.

DEREK STATHAM Career as a left back ended at Telford in 1994 with three England caps. Lives and works in southern Spain.

JOHN TREWICK Midfielder moved to Newcastle before retiring in the early 1990s. Returned to West Brom as a coach in 1993. Coach at Hereford United in 2004 and now at Shrewsbury Town.

ALLY ROBERTSON Moved to Wolves in 1986. After managing Worcester City and Cheltenham, the defender became a car salesman.

JOHN WILE Played for the club in defence until 1983 and was managing director for five seasons. Now runs his own business.

RON ATKINSON Manager. Took charge at Manchester United for five years before returning to West Brom in 1987. Also managed Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday (twice) and Atletico Madrid. Still lives in the Midlands.

BRENDON BATSON Career as a right back was cut short by injury in 1982. Was a PFA administra­tor and later returned to the club as managing director.

WILLIE JOHNSTON Winger played for Rangers before ending his career with East Fife. Ran a pub in Fife.

Inset: LEN CANTELLO The midfielder finished his career in North American Soccer League. Returned to England and became sports equipment salesman.
