ROBIN GOODFELLOW

- SAM TURNER

NAP SELECTION TRADE COMMISSIONER (Sandown, 3.50)

With a record of 2-2 at the Esher venue, Trade Commissioner should find today’s handicap to his liking. His two recent efforts haven’t been inspiring but his first outing of the season in a hot Royal Ascot handicap suggests that he retains his ability and today’s test is more suitable.

NEXT BEST FATHSTA (Beverley, 4.15)

The new connections of Fathsta went to 5,400gns to buy the eight-year-old gelding out of a Warwick seller and they seek to recoup the purchase price today. The veteran broke the track record that night and if he turns up in the same form here then he should make a bold bid to follow up.

MAKE IT MARCRET MARCRET (Chester, 2.55)

Backing Marcret doesn’t come without its pitfalls as he has yet to run for his new yard after being claimed following a victory over course and distance in a claimer in June. However, he posted such a strong speed figure in winning that day that he looks worth risking in a typically open handicap at the Roodeye.

HAWK CAN FLY HOME SWINGING HAWK (Chester, 5.40)

Ian Williams has booked Richard Kingscote to ride nine times this season and the trainer has been rewarded with three victories, including when the rider steered Sam Sharp home at York last weekend. The combination team up with Swinging Hawk and the seven-year-old should relish today’s step back up in trip.
