Flowers floors Leeds

-

lEEds UniTEd look like a club in disarray after the collapse of a takeover led by managing director david Haigh and due to be completed at the start of January.

Haigh’s main consortium investor, andrew Flowers, managing director of shirt sponsor Enterprise insurance, has pulled the plug after falling out with Haigh over him also negotiating with Massimo Cellino, president of italian club Cagliari. Cellino has convictions for fraud and is facing more embezzlement allegations in italy.

Flowers said: ‘We are convinced this will not be in the interests of the club, manager, players or fans. We believe the owners have breached their covenant with us and with the fans.’

leeds manager Brian Mcdermott said after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against ipswich: ‘We need the ownership sorted. a lot of things are going on off the pitch that shouldn’t happen.’

BRIAN

MOORE, BBC rugby’s dinosaur co-commentator, demonstrated his great command of the English language again with an obscene tweet which read: ‘I think broadcasters should have a “oh do f*** off” button.’ That would indeed be handy whenever Moore is ranting gobbledegook on the BBC or talkSPORT. A BBC spokeswoman said: ‘Brian’s tweet came from his personal account and is therefore not part of BBC output. We do not comment on private accounts.’ THE toothless Football league claim to be working hard behind the scenes to sort out the season-long mess at nottingham Forest, where manager Billy davies’s agent, Jim Price, continues to pull the strings despite not having passed the league owners and directors test.

Yet Price has evaded any attempt to curb his powerbase by presenting himself merely as a consultant for the Kuwaiti owners.
