Obama gets a dressing down

THE leader of the most powerful nation in the world took the podium to address the crises in Iraq, Syria and Ukraine – but all anyone could talk about was his tan suit.

Within minutes of US President Barack Obama’s press conference at the White House on Thursday, Twitter lit up with 4,000 comments about his choice and three new accounts popped up dedicated to the outfit.

While some users praised his bold choice, many were unimpressed.

Josh Barro, of the New York Times, quipped: ‘Obama vows to defeat whoever made him wear this suit.’

The Twitter frenzy saw jokes such as ‘yes, we tan’, a play on Obama’s slogan ‘yes, we can’, and ‘the audacity of taupe’ – after his book The Audacity of Hope.
