Should jihadi terrorists lose UK passports?

-

THIS Government needs to take the bull by the horns and strip the honour of British citizenship from every person who has chosen to leave these shores to fight alongside terrorists. Not one penny of public money should be provided for lawyers to defend their so-called human rights. If no immediate action is taken, I and many others shudder at the thought of the future for our children and grandchildren. British citizens fought for our freedom, only for us to witness this country capitulating to our enemies without a whimper. NORMA WINSON-JONES,

Eastbourne, E. Sussex. IT’s incomprehensible that sharia law is being allowed to flourish in certain areas of the UK. our Government’s laxity in enforcing British law is one of the major factors encouraging the spread of Islamic jihadism. Unfortunately, if these terrorists return to the UK, they will bring back the murderous views they’ve acquired in months of sickening violence abroad. All passports of known Islamic terrorists must be rescinded, whether they have dual or single nationality. If this leaves them stateless, so be it. For each stateless terrorist, thousands of Britons will be able to sleep more easily.

BILL SEYMOUR, Antrim. IF WE permit the idea that should we offend against the state (however heinous our crimes), British citizens can be banished into statelessness, then we are on the proverbial slippery slope. The last time I recall such nonsense being proposed was when Idi Amin threw out of Uganda large numbers of British passport-holders who just happened to be Asian. Many said then that we should withdraw their passports to prevent them coming here. There was outrage. Should such a medieval practice of ‘banishment from the kingdom’ be instituted, the questions will be ‘who next?’ and ‘what for?’

Mrs YVONNE BAILEY, Stoneleigh, Surrey. THE Dutch constitution states that you can’t swear allegiance to two monarchs or leaders at once. When you take another passport, you lose your Dutch one. If any soldiers join a foreign army, they lose their Dutch passport. Britain should accept this principle for anyone who joins terrorists.

G. LAKMAKER, Harrow, Middx.
