In Secret, 6pm, Sky Premiere

PASSIONS run high in this lushlooking period drama, adapted from Emile Zola’s Therese Raquin. Elizabeth Olsen (pictured with Oscar Isaac) is the woman trapped in a loveless arranged marriage.

Rochdale v Stoke City, 7.45pm, BT Sport 1

A BUSY weekend of FA Cup action ends with this fourth-round encounter from Spotland. A penalty from Peter Vincenti was enough to see Rochdale past Nottingham Forest in the previous round.

British Gardens In Time, 9pm, BBC4

THE concluding part of this sumptuous repeat takes us to the gardens of Nymans, West Sussex. This beautiful and romantic plot was developed from the late 19th century on by three generations of the Messel family, and is now a National Trust property.

Murdoch Mysteries, 9pm, Alibi

EASTENDERS’ Jo Joyner plays a Toronto harbour master as the new, eighth season of this Canadian mystery opens with a dinner that gives way to murder. The story — the first of a twoparter — takes in women’s suffrage and the thugs responsible for Brackenreid’s beating, and opens and closes with uncharacteristic violence (and a whiff of Martin Scorsese).

Noah, 9pm, Sky Action

CULT director Darren Aronofsky (of Black Swan fame) turns his hand to the biblical blockbuster and brings expected controversy with him. Russell Crowe (pictured) is the man on a mission from God.

The Arabian Motorcycle Adventures, 10pm, BBC4

AT 26, Matt VanDyke gave himself a ‘crash course in manhood’ — this meant buying a motorbike and a video camera, and revving off on a 35,000-mile trip through northern Africa and the Middle East. Matt has OCD, so this was more of a challenge than it sounds, even leaving aside his sudden decision to become a war correspondent.

South Side Story, 9.30pm, BBC3

AMBITIOUS new series that blends the familiar reality soap idea with sudden song-and-dance numbers. Some of the drama, played out between 18- to 25-year-old south Londoners (including Shahnequa, pictured), feels toe-curlingly inauthentic — but it’s nice that the BBC is trying something different.

Inside Amy Schumer, 10.30pm, Comedy Central

THE gross opening sketch will put some viewers off, but this first of the U.S. comedian’s new series — a mix of stand-up, interviews and sketches — has some good moments, especially the routines on malefemale relationships.

The Boxtrolls, BT TV/Sky Store/ Virgin Movies

ENJOYABLE animation about a boy, raised by ugly yet adorable trolls, who fights to save his adoptive community from extinction.
