Just keep smiling Camilla... it’s Katie Price and

The ex-model and the royal, both known for their love of horses, smiled and exchanged a few words afterwards in the parade ring, where Camilla was presenting the trophy to the winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Within minutes, Miss Price posted a photograph of the pair on her Instagram account to her 276,000 followers. The 36-year-old mother of five had already shared images of herself and her friends drinking champagne on the way to the racing and then posing with chefs Michel Roux and Michel Roux Jr at the course’s Chez Roux restaurant. She also tweeted another picture of the Duchess and one of her dessert from the restaurant to her two million followers.

In contrast to Miss Price, who opted for a very informal, modern outfit, Camilla wore a dark green Balmoral tweed coat by Roy Allan and a fur-rimmed hat by Lock & Co. She had brought her son Tom Parker Bowles and daughter Laura Lopes to the racing, along with her daughter-in-law Sara and son-in-law Harry.

The group watched from a private box in

the Arkle stand, two boxes away from a group of Manchester United footballers. Other celebrity visitors included Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton, who has set herself the challenge of competing as a jockey at next year’s festival.

The theme for this year’s Ladies’ Day was ‘colour’ and racegoers did not disappoint, donning an array of bright dresses and dramatic hats.

For the first time, the best dressed competition was judged by social media, with entrants encouraged to tweet photographs of their outfits. The £15,000 prize was won by Jennifer Wrynne, a milliner from Ireland, who wore a green dress and white faux fur wrap with a bespoke pink, white and green hat. Unlike Ascot, there is no dress code for the general public at Cheltenham, although visitors are asked not to wear anything that might cause offence. Sebastian Shakespeare
