CHANNING TATUM has to woo his wife (Rachel McAdams) all over again after a terrible car accident leaves her with memory loss, and she forgets him and their marriage. Soppy as anything, it sounds like romantic melodrama by numbers, but is in fact based on a true story.

A Serious Man, 11.35pm, BBC1

THE Coen brothers’ black comedy is the story of Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg, pictured), a Jewish man whose personal and professional lives are both unravelling. Larry suffers a crisis of faith and searches for meaning in unusual places. Many think this to be the Coens’ best work.
