Master Chef Gregg delays wedding amid cash crisis

- By Simon Cable

HIS appetite was whet for a fourth wedding this year… but Gregg Wallace’s plans have gone off the boil in the wake of financial difficulties.

The Master Chef presenter, 50, had hoped to marry Anne-Marie Sterpini, 29, in the coming months and had even arranged the venue.

However, after the collapse of his business empire, he has now pushed the event back until next year. Three of the BBC star’s companies have shut down in two years.

Confirming the delay, he told The Sun: ‘I’m really busy filming this year and couldn’t commit to a date because we want some time off to have a honeymoon. It will be next year now and both Anne-Marie and me are looking forward to it.’

In October last year he divulged details of his arrangements, saying: ‘Next year is all about the wedding. I’ve got the venue, I’ve got the pianist, I’ve got the girl but I have not got the ring.’

Wallace took part in Strictly Come Dancing last year and recently returned to our screens for the 11th series of Master Chef, co-hosting with chef John Torode. But despite his on- screen success, six of his nine companies have been dissolved with debts of between £ 50,000 and £1.8million in recent years, records lodged with Companies House show.

After closing the Wallace and Co restaurant in South West London last February, he sold his company Wallace Cafes, which had received poor reviews. In 2013, he shut Gregg’s Bar and Grill in South London and that March his greengrocers, West Veg Ltd, collapsed with debts of more than £500,000.

Wallace’s spokesman did not reply to requests for comment last night.
