Yours for £4million, Brad’s pad
( but will they throw ) in the stag’s head?
GOTHIC candlesticks, medieval chandeliers and a stuffed stag’s head – just who would live in a house like this?
The answer is Hollywood superstars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. And now fans can take a look through the keyhole at their New Orleans mansion after the couple put the two-storey, 1830s property on the market.
The five-bedroom home has imposing fireplaces, high ceilings, a grand spiral staircase and its own lift, as well as a host of gold-leaf furniture.
There is also a chef’s kitchen with top-of-the-range appliances, three bathrooms, a large private courtyard and a separate two-storey guest house.
Pitt, 51, and his 39-year-old wife hope to sell the mansion in the city’s picturesque French quarter for £4.3million, according to US website TMZ. They bought it for £2.3million in 2006, shortly after Hurricane Katrina, and began helping to rebuild the devastated city through their charitable foundation, Make It Right.
The home is said to have been redesigned by Pitt, who has a long-standing interest in architecture after studying it at college in the 1980s. He has even created his own line of furniture, saying: ‘While acting is my career, architecture is my passion.’
The couple, who are said to be worth £180million between them and have six children, have a string of luxury properties across the world – a £23million chateau in the south of France, a Los Angeles mansion in Los Feliz, and a large villa in northern Italy.
Last year they were said to have viewed a £25million penthouse in Marylebone, central London.
