I’VE been using eBay for years and have had several issues with items not turning up and then not being able to trace them. eBay expects its users to deal with fraudsters, rather than help them resolve issues.
A. B., Middlesex. I HAVE had some bad problems with eBay. I find its automated help system impossible to deal with and customer services are useless. I was put on hold for ages and then fobbed off.
M. S., Norwich. I HAVE bought and sold on eBay for years and it seems to me to be a scammer’s paradise. I have reported hundreds of dodgy ads to eBay, but very rarely is action taken. No one takes you seriously.
J. R., by email. I WAS sent the wrong item when I bought a laptop battery from eBay. I contacted the seller three times, eBay twice and then PayPal — and have not received a reply from any of them.
G. O., Manchester. I BOUGHT a phone on eBay that never arrived, but I found the website’s guarantee incredibly helpful. They investigated my claim and refunded my money. But I was shocked to see the seller operating afterwards.

G. C., by email. I HAVE had many problems with buyers who never pay, but are still allowed to continue bidding with a 100 pc feedback record on the site. I’ve tried to expose them as a non-payer with a negative review, but it never posts.
G. T., by email. WHEN I bought something on eBay and it didn’t arrive, I was notified the seller had gone into administration. I put in a claim to eBay and after three weeks my money was refunded in full — so it’s not all bad.
