The six millionaire bosses who STILL won’t cut your bills

-

PAUL MASSARA Npower chief executive PACKAGE: £600,000

Mr Massara claimed last year that high energy bills in Britain were due to ‘draughty housing’ and suggested people did not insulate their homes properly.

But he was accused of hypocrisy after heat images showed he had poor insulation at his own 16th century, sevenbedroom £3million house in a village near Oxford.

The Devon-born father of two lives with his wife Alison in the enormous house, which includes a separate cottage and a converted barn.

Mr Massara said: ‘If we can increase the efficiency of the UK’s old and draughty housing, we can ensure that annual energy bills are some of the lowest too.’

In 013, the executive rejected calls to give up a bonus of £150,000 awarded for hitting targets for employee and customer satisfaction, despite its poor records on complaints.

ALISTAIR PHILLIPS-DAVIES SSE chief executive PACKAGE: £ .7million

Mr Phillips-Davies, 47, is a former London banker, who owns a £ 1.8million, fivebedroom home.

The twice-married father of three had a salary increase to £805,000 last year, an inflationbusting rise of nearly 7 per cent. SSE said his pay rise was decided after ‘ careful consideration’ but it came at a time when the company raised prices by more than 8 per cent, though it has since frozen them until 016. He has a degree in natural sciences and is a qualified chartered accountant. He lives with his wife Debra and their children just outside Edinburgh. His tenure has not been without difficulties and SSE faced accusations it paid employees below the minimum wage.

It is claimed he snubbed the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby’s requests to discuss fuel poverty and soaring energy bills in 013.

VINCENT DE RIVAZ EDF Energy chief executive PACKAGE: £1million

The French businessman took home a £1.04million package in 013 and £1million in 01 . The firm sparked criticism earlier this year after announcing a tiny price cut of just 1.3 per cent – less than 18p a week, despite a sharp fall in wholesale energy prices.

Mr de Rivaz is said to be an important adviser to Prince Charles.

IAIN CONN Centrica (parent company of British Gas) chief executive PACKAGE: £3.7million

The Edinburgh- born boss arrived at Centrica on a controversial pay package worth £3.7million. One month into his role, he announced households would not see a ‘meaningful’ drop in their energy bills until next year. He had worked at Rolls-Royce Holdings and BP.

TONY COCKER E.ON chief executive PACKAGE: £950,000

Mr Cocker kept his £500,000 annual bonus last year despite the firm receiving a record fine for mis-selling to hundreds of thousands of customers.

The German-owned company was shamed after industry regulator Ofgem discovered ‘large scale mis-selling’ over three years.

But chief executive Dr Cocker refused to resign and only saw his annual bonus cut by a quarter. Despite the scandal, the company admitted he would still receive a bonus of £510, 3 , giving him a total pay package worth almost £950,000 for last year.

KEITH ANDERSON Scottish Power chief corporate officer PACKAGE: £500,000

Last month, it emerged Scottish Power had triggered an all-time record number of complaints.

The firm, which has more than two million customers across the UK, has left thousands of people either without bills for months on end or facing huge and unwarranted demands for cash. Complaints against the company soared by 488 per cent during 014.
