Stewardess, 23, is found dead in hotel room during BA stopover

A BRITISH Airways stewardess has been found dead in her African hotel room during a stopover.

Emily Dunn, 23, had recently joined the airline, only completing training and receiving her ‘wings’ in May.

It is thought she may have had an undiagnosed heart condition.

Her death came just days before she was due to attend the wedding of her 25-year-old brother Robert.

On July 16, Miss Dunn failed to join crew at Luanda airport in Angola for a return flight to Heathrow.

Colleagues went to look for her and found her dead in her room, still wearing her BA uniform.

Last night Miss Dunn’s parents Gordon, 50, and wife Sheree, 51, of Congleton, Cheshire, were too upset to talk about the tragedy.

Lyn Lucas, 65, a neighbour of the family, described Miss Dunn as ‘such a lovely girl’, adding: ‘She had loads of potential. She was in China for a year or so and she learned Chinese.

‘She wasn’t working for BA long ... it was her dream job and a very difficult job to get.’

Yesterday, Miss Dunn’s boyfriend James Griffiths posted a picture of the couple on his Facebook page. The flight Miss Dunn was supposed to return on was cancelled for passengers and flew back to the UK with only the crew on board.

Last night, British Airways said in a statement: ‘We were deeply saddened to hear of the death of our colleague, Emily, from a suspected heart condition. She was an enthusiastic member of our cabin crew team.

‘Our thoughts are with her family and friends.’
