City worker plunges 100ft to his death

-

A YOUNG City worker plunged 100ft to his death from the headquarters of one of the world’s leading consultancy firms.

The 23-year-old fell from the tenth-storey garden roof terrace of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Central London.

Onlookers screamed as he landed in an area packed with tourists, office workers and evening diners.

A witness in a nearby office said: ‘It was horrible. I saw his silhouette falling against the sky with his legs and arms flailing and then heard a massive bang. I called security and medics were here quickly. Younger colleagues who were really shaken up by it.’

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and said the death at offices near Tower Bridge, in a development known as More London, was an accident.

A PwC spokesman said: ‘One of our employees died in tragic circumstances. Our thoughts are with the family.’

The victim, whose identity was not known last night, was one of two people to die in similar circumstances in the capital on Thursday night. A second man, aged 20, died after falling backwards down a chimney from a rooftop near Oxford Street.

He is believed to have climbed on to the roof of a luxury block of flats for the view.

His body was discovered in the basement at Great Cumberland Place after he fell seven storeys down the 4ft by 3ft chimney that opened on to the roof.
