I’m just as vulnerable as you are

IT’S been a very odd four weeks since I took that tumble and sprained my ankle.

It seemed to trigger a general malaise — and who was there to give advice to your advice columnist?

Forced to lie around, I became gloomy at the thought of the world’s unresolvable problems, not to mention all my readers’ woes. All my bounce disappeared. I coughed, wheezed, felt nauseous, ached all over and wanted only to sleep.

A summer virus, a visiting nurse told me. But how could that cause the persistent pain in my left hip? Who was that person in the mirror with the tense, sad face?

You see? I’m just as vulnerable as you are. But I’m always telling you to act and so I made two appointments — one with a new GP, the other with an ‘alternative’ practitioner at a lovely place called The Indigo Centre, on the very edge of Bristol.

Nikki Carter is a kinesiologist, psychic medium and life-enhancement therapist who manages the centre.

I’d heard that health kinesiology can be helpful, but — honestly — I doubted it.

My surprise came when Nikki stared hard and proceeded to tell me that I was drained, running on empty. Just from looking.

She also ‘saw’ that I had chest problems, though I wasn’t wheezing.

After hearing her advice (that I need to take care, etc), I had to lie down for kinesiology, which wasn’t that pleasant: some prodding, pulling and pushing.

Hmm, I thought, what was that all about? And got out of bed the next day with the pain in my hip totally gone.

Tired of the tiredness, I went to see the GP, who was younger than my daughter! She confirmed that I was drained, running on empty, needed a blood test, an X-ray on my ankle, an asthma review, etc. So now I’m on a mission . . . feeling humbly grateful that the knowledge of conventional medicine and the powerful wisdom behind holistic therapies is all there for us — if only we’ll listen.
