PARDEW: MY PALACE HAVE LEARNED FAST

- By MARTHA KELNER

ALAN PARDEW said Crystal Palace’s win shows they are no longer a yo-yo club. Expectations at Selhurst Park are high after Palace achieved a record tally of 48 points last season. ‘A match like that shows how far we have come,’ said manager Pardew. ‘Even though it’s only our third year it’s a massive quality and if there is one thing Norwich are going to need to gain it’s that kind of nous. ‘We are really strong on that. When they got a goal back we knew not to panic. Last year we won a lot of games exactly like we did today and sometimes you scratch your head and wonder how you won it.’ Palace were on the back foot for the first 20 minutes as Norwich squandered several decent chances, but Wilfried Zaha’s 39thminute kung-fu kick goal from a Jason Puncheon cross put them ahead. Zaha, playing on the left wing, said he will have no excuses if he fails to meet his own 10-goal target. ‘If I’m not getting goals or assists then what am I doing?’ he said. ‘I’ve told myself I have to get 10 goals.’ Norwich were fuming after a Cameron Jerome goal was harshly disallowed for a high kick — even Pardew agreed the decision was wrong. All they had to show for their efforts was a Nathan Redmond goal sandwiched between strikes by Damien Delaney and Yohan Cabaye.
