5 THINGS WE’VE LEARNED IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE

- JOE RIDGE

1 JIMMY Floyd Hasselbaink is cementing a reputation as one of the best Football League managers. The former Chelsea striker led Burton to the League Two title last year and his side are now third in League One after victory at Shrewsbury. He has won 24 of his 37 games as a boss in England.

2 HAVING sacked eight bosses in five-and-a-half years, Notts County chairman Ray Trew may be regretting giving Ricardo Moniz a threeyear contract. The Dutchman failed to keep them up last season and despite being given a big budget, has won just one of his opening five League Two games after a 4-1 drubbing at Morecambe.

3 AT THE other end of League Two, Leyton Orient are the only Football League club with a 100 per cent record and look a good bet to return to League One. Former Arsenal striker Jay Simpson scored his fourth goal of the season as Ian Hendon’s side made it five wins on the spin by beating Bristol Rovers 2-0.

4 FULHAM are benefiting from investing in their academy in more ways than one. Young strikers Moussa Dembele and Cauley Woodrow starred in a 3-1 win at Rotherham, while the £12million they received from Manchester City for 18-yearold Patrick Roberts has been invested in the likes of Tom Cairney and Tim Ream.

5 DEVANTE COLE, son of former Manchester United striker Andrew, is a chip off the old block — scoring a 90th-minute winner for Bradford on his debut against Port Vale in League One. Josh Windass — son of ex-Hull man Dean — earned League Two Accrington a point against Northampton.
