TRUE-DRAMA Show Me A Hero, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

MAYOR WASICSKO (Oscar Isaac) is alone in his efforts to save Yonkers from ruin. The city is on a precipice, not just because it faces bankruptcy, but because it has no way to house its most vulnerable residents. This is an excellent, finely tuned drama, but one that, perhaps unjustly, has limited appeal.

JOHN SIMM excels in roles in which he is displaced and under pressure — such as his timetravel­ling cop in Life On Mars — and this three-part drama delivers another such role. He plays a police detective who goes on the run after he becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his wife and son.

NEW U.S. DRAMA

Fear The Walking Dead, 9pm, AMC

A NEW prequel to The Walking Dead, set in LA and with a different cast of characters (including Alycia Debnam Carey as Alicia and Frank Dillane as Nick). In episode one, there are only hints that something is wrong, but one family will learn the hard way that all is not right with the world. This first episode is also available on Freeview (channel 59) but, usually, AMC can only be seen on Sky (192) and BT TV (332).

NEW FUN SHOW

Lip Sync Battle, 10pm, Spike

WE HAVE Stephen Merchant to thank for this U.S. show in which two celebritie­s battle it out to be the best lip-syncer — Merchant is one of the creators, with U.S. comic Jimmy Fallon.
