Lover held after woman scientist is found beheaded

A SCIENTIST was found beheaded in her home after police were called to investigate a disturbance.

Armed officers found the body of Samantha Ho, pictured, and arrested her partner, Timothy Allen, 40, at the scene. He was taken to hospital and treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A post-mortem examination found Miss Ho, 39 – who worked for Asterand, a firm specialising in human tissue research – died from ‘multiple cuts to the neck’.

Yesterday, neighbours in the cul-de-sac in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, spoke of their shock at Miss Ho’s death.

Ian Worsfold, 49, said: ‘We are all numb and gutted. They were just lovely people.’

Police forced their way in to the couple’s £280,000 semi-detached house on Saturday after being called by the ambulance service, which had received reports expressing concern about a man in the area. Their pet dog was also found dead.

Allen, who is understood to work for the medical firm Asthma-Trak, appeared yesterday at Peterborough Magistrates Court charged with murder.

He was remanded to appear at Cambridge Crown Court via video tomorrow.
