Bake Off, clothes off … it’s the bikini cake!

- By Jemma Buckley Showbusiness Reporter

WHILE saucy innuendos have become a staple of The Great British Bake Off, the cakes had always remained relatively tame – until now.

Last night contestant Paul Jagger, 49, sculpted a busty blonde sunbather in a skimpy bikini out of fondant icing.

The prison governor and former Coldstream Guard placed his cheeky creation on top of an ice cream roll decorated to look like a tropical island. As Mr Jagger meticulously shaped a pink leg, presenter Sue Perkins, 45, joked: ‘I’ve never seen a man, particularly of your stature, turn a calf quite as marvellously as you turned that.’

Co-host Mel Giedroyc, 47, told Mr Jagger to add more material to the bikini, saying: ‘We can’t have her going out on to a beach like that, she’ll get arrested.’

Mr Jagger, who first revealed his sculpting skills two weeks ago with a lion shaped out of bread, made his roll, which had to be dairy-free, out of coconut ice cream and an almond sponge.

Meanwhile judges’ favourite Ian Cumming, 41, who had been named Star Baker three weeks in a row, was toppled by Nadiya Hussain, 30, who wowed with her glutenfree pitta breads and a chocolate, straw- berry and lime ice cream roll. Viewers were no doubt glad to see an end to his winning streak after many complained about his attitude. One Twitter user called him ‘smug’, adding: ‘Ian annoys me so much.’

There were also snide remarks from rivals last night. At the start of the episode, Miss Hussain said she would ‘absolutely’ love to beat him, adding: ‘Who wouldn’t?’

Others on social media were complimenting Mrs Hussain on her win – including her husband, Abdal, who posted: ‘I am the proudest husband on the planet tonight. Maybe now you can believe in yourself Nadiya like I believe in you!’

Lithuanian bodybuilder Ugne Bubnaityte, 32, was the latest contestant to be sent home. She said: ‘It’s a terrible moment when you know that your baking has failed and your dreams are crumbling around you.’
